Through this
class I have focused on improving my research and citing skills. That has led
to this week, and making sure that the authors have been given proper credit
for their work. Whether their work is through the internet, book, or journal. I
liked the detailed information that was given about plagiarism. For instance,
citing things such as pictures, songs, and books. Which I have always focused
on, but it also creates a sense of urgency by providing you with consequences
if you are negligent in your citing. Consequences
can range from being expelled in school or even to lawsuits. These serious consequences
can occur because plagiarism is a form of fraud.
This has also
made me more aware of the stuff I have written or could write in the future. When
researching something or publishing something, I find it flattering if someone
was to use my research for their own. At the same time it’s nice to receive the
proper credit for your hard work. This can also create a paper trail to help
teachers or students see how far we have come with developments. Like in my
subject, it helps me see where the past research has come from and help with
furthering it.
